Supporting childcare workers and increasing peace of mind for parents! Bebisapo, an infant nap monitoring support system

Points of this service
  • No special preparation or work is required, and the light and sound reliably support watchful behavior during nap time.
  • It also notifies you of behaviors that may lead to your child falling asleep on his or her back, such as "big roll over.
  • Video recordings of children's behavior and oversight. Can be used as evidence and educational materials.

Daily nap time is indispensable for children who spend time at daycare centers. To prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), the cause of which is unknown, it is essential that nursery staff watch over the children during this time. Various systems have been developed to support naptime monitoring, such as "placing children on a special mat that detects their condition (mat system)" and "attaching sensors to children's clothes that detect their condition (sensor system). The editorial department of BabyTech.jp interviewed Mr. Yoshihiro Shibuya, the developer of Bebisapo, to learn more about the service, its development, and future plans. Editor:Now, can you tell us about the outline and features of "Bebisapo"?

Shibuya: "Bebisapo" consists of a "camera" that takes pictures of children during their nap, a "tablet" that displays images and various information, and a "lamp" that sends out various notifications. The basic structure of the system is as follows. First of all, when 4 minutes and 30 seconds have passed since the start of the noon sleep monitoring mode, there is no movement of the child and no action by the nursery teacher, the light of the lamp, which is usually green, changes to yellow. Then, if the nursery teacher checks the sleeping posture of the children during the nap, the camera detects the action and the light turns back to "green". If the nursery teacher does not come to check the sleeping posture of the children within 30 seconds (within 5 minutes from the previous action), the light of the lamp will turn red, and a sound (chirping of birds) will be made at a level that does not wake up the children. Again, when the caregiver checks the sleeping position of the children, the sound will automatically stop and the lamp will return to green. After another 4 minutes and 30 seconds have passed, the lamp turns yellow and the process repeats .......
