BabyTech® Awards 2022 Call for entries

Introduction " BabyTech" makes life in childcare safer, more secure and richer.

Based on this belief, we are promoting BabyTech in the hope that BabyTech products and services will be widely used by consumers. In promoting BabyTech, we faced two challenges.

(i) Limited means for consumers to evaluate for themselves what BabyTech products are safe to use for their children.

(ii) The spread of BabyTech and its social implementation requires greater awareness among consumers and the propagating support and collaboration to achieve this.

To address these issues, we have launched the BabyTech® Award Japan, a contest that serves as a benchmark of choice so that parents and childcare providers can use quality BabyTech products with peace of mind.
The award recognises outstanding products and services through rigorous judging by experts and is presented to all those involved in pregnancy, childbirth and childcare, so that they can feel confident when choosing BabyTech products.

In 2022, the fourth year of the competition, we will be looking at the development of the global BabyTech market, and we have selected the following organisations in the US Following discussions with the organisation that held the rights to the Baby Tech Awards, the awards will be renamed the BabyTech® Awards 2022, an award that is not limited to Japan. Judging Section

The judging will be divided into nine categories. Please see below for the relevant categories.

If you are not sure which category to enter, please let us know at the time of application and we will assign you to the appropriate category at the jury meeting.

Award Structure

Excellent products will be selected in the first screening by documents for each category.

• BabyTech® Awards 2022 Qualified

Qualified mark (for reference).

For each category, the Grand Prize and Excellence Award will be selected from the products that pass the first round of judging (Qualified) through a second round of judging. After the sample products and apps have been tried and tested, and after an online presentation of each product, the jury members score each of the judging criteria items (see below) on a five-point scale, and the ranking is calculated based on the total score.

• Grand Prize (one of the first prizes in the category)
• Prize for Excellence (2nd and 3rd places in the category)

Application Rules

For tangible goods, such as device equipment

Regardless of the launch date, products that are ready to be offered to individuals or corporations in Japan as of December 31, 2022, or are scheduled to be launched, and whose names and products can be publicized in the Qualified Product Announcement on August 30, 2022.

For application services

Regardless of the release date, as of December 31, 2022, applications or services that have been or will be released in Japan for use by customers (e.g., on the Web or in an application store) and that have passed the initial screening (Qualified) by August 30, 2022 will be eligible to have their name and service announced. About the Applicant

The applicant must be a business entity (developer/manufacturer, owner, or operator) or a company/organization entrusted by a business entity. In the case of a consigned company or organization, the consent of the business entity is required.

• Problem statement and solution
  Is the problem statement (focus point) clear and is the granularity of the statement appropriate?
  Do you have a strong awareness of the issues, concerns and feelings about the childcare environment?
  Does the solution assume that the problem is well covered?
• Novelty and originality
  Does a similar product exist in the submitted product
  Compared to similar products, is there a unique initiative and does this initiative create an advantage?
  Does the unique appeal of the product lead to the right advantages?
• Functionality and ease of use
  Is it designed to be easy for the target user to use and does it ensure reliable operation?
  For devices, is it easy to install and can it be used in a few steps (e.g. one button press)? Is it easy to install and use with a few steps (e.g. one button press)?
  For community services, is it easy for anyone to participate?
  For repeat applications, has the functionality and usability been refined since the previous application? Has the functionality and ease of use been refined?
• Future potential, continuity
  Do you envisage a long term use of the project, not just a short term perspective?
  Do you envisage future development, e.g. an approach to a new area of coexistence?
  If you are applying again, do you have any new insights or assumptions compared to your previous application? Are there any new insights or assumptions? If a pivot, is it appropriate?

There is no order of precedence for the judging criteria. The judges will score each item and the total score will be used for judging.
