Feel like a creator! Create an original commercial video with Scratch Jr.

The second day of the "Aim! The theme for the second day of the "Creator Course" was "Let's make a commercial for the store". The children used Scratch Jr, an application for tablets that allows them to learn the basics of programming in a game-like environment, to create the video while keeping in mind the basics of design they learned on the first day. What kind of works were created by the children's fingertips?

What is programming anyway? Ryohei Hayasaka, a lecturer at Stereolab, tells children that programming is used in unexpectedly familiar places.

Most of the students had never touched programming software before. They were thrilled to use Scratch Jr for the first time.

After quickly becoming familiar with Scratch Jr, the children are ready to begin the biggest mission of this lesson: making a commercial. 4 rules must be followed to complete your own commercial video. Of course, don't forget the basics of design that you learned on the first day!

The time limit is about 90 minutes. Through repeated trial and error and worrying, they created their work with attention to detail. Fine adjustments were made until the very last minute.

Each creator created his or her own commercial video with a different theme and message. All of the commercials born from the children's flexible ideas were excellent works.

Editor: After two weeks of the "Aim! Creator Course" lessons.

Hayasaka: This was the first time we held this event, and I was amazed at how much knowledge the children were able to absorb. I was also amazed at how much they were able to absorb. The completed works, both posters and commercials, were far better than we had imagined.
