Original picture books and well-thought-out "questions" develop children's abilities.

Editor: Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule today! First of all, please tell us about the features of the KIKASETE picture book application.

Okuno: It is my pleasure to meet you, KIKASETE is an application for developing the ability to think and communicate. As children read the original picture book, they are given quizzes related to the content, questions that delve into specific topics, and questions that ask them how they felt about the picture book and why.

Editor: So many mechanisms to expand knowledge based on the content of the book and develop the child's own thinking skills, rather than just reading the book and calling it a day!

Okuno: Yes. The flow of the application is as follows: When you open the application, picture books appear, and you choose the one you are interested in from among them. Inspired by the concept of "reverse learning," the curriculum consists of one set of preparation and review, so that the same picture book will appear the next day. After reading, a unique curriculum is developed, including quizzes and questions based on the content of the picture book. At the end of the reading, we believe that it is an even better reading experience when parents and children can talk about the contents of the picture book together.

Develop children's "ability to think and communicate" in four steps

Editor: So many different kinds of questions!

Okuno: Yes, for example, there are "think questions" that ask about the context of the picture book, "speech questions" that dig deeper into the child's thoughts in line with the content of the picture book, and "quizzes" that are knowledge questions. For the "speech questions," in particular, we ask the children why they thought that way, but we emphasize the importance of not denying their opinions.
