Papa ninaru" is an app that delivers a variety of useful information to fathers every day during pregnancy and childcare. By reading this information, dads can increase their knowledge of pregnancy and childcare, which not only helps couples communicate during pregnancy and childcare, but also allows dads to be more actively involved in their pregnancy and childcare. The service won the grand prize in the "BabyTech® Award Japan 2021 Pregnancy and Pregnancy Category". Editor: Thank you very much for your time today. Can you give us an overview of Papa Ninaru and its features?
Miki: Papa ninaru is an application "exclusively for dads" who have children from pregnancy to about 4 years old. When using the app, you can switch between two modes: pregnancy mode and childcare mode. In Pregnancy mode, the content of the daily updates changes according to the growth of the baby in the mother's belly. In pregnancy mode, the content changes daily to reflect the progress of the baby in the mother's tummy, such as how the baby is doing at the moment, suggestions for dads to keep in mind when interacting with the mother, and useful information such as ....... Once your baby is born, you will also receive a variety of articles to keep you up to date with your child's development.
For dads, pregnancy is not a change that is happening in their own body, so it is difficult to become aware that they are becoming a dad. As a result, it is difficult for them to see childcare as their own business, and communication with mothers can be difficult. ...... In response to this, Papa Ninaru aims to improve communication between couples by providing necessary information for fathers who are expecting or raising children in the form of "Mom's Feelings" and "Comments from Senior Fathers".
For example, we send messages such as "If you are unable to accompany your child to a medical check-up, it is a good idea to share information about the check-up with your spouse", so that dads can be more actively involved in childcare.
Editor: I downloaded the app before the interview, and I too wish I had this app before my child was born ....... I wish this app had been available before my child was born, because dads really don't have an overwhelming amount of knowledge about childcare. In particular, I thought the "Pregnancy Schedule", which gives you a bird's eye view of all the "events" and "changes to your body" throughout your pregnancy, was really great. It's a great way for dads to get a complete picture of what's going on, so they can relax and get on with raising their child.
