LEARN STEM EDUCATION WHILE POLISHING YOUR ARTISTIC SENSIBILITIES AND BASIC EDUCATION. CREATOR COURSE" REPORT ①

STELABO, a STEM and programming school operated by SB C&S, which is in charge of the IT distribution business of the SOFTBANK Group, is offering a 2-day intensive course in STEAM, which incorporates a wide range of basic education (Arts and Liberal Arts) including STEM* education and the arts. The "Aim! Creator Course" was held. On the first day of this course, Adobe Systems Incorporated (Adobe) provided technical support with visual content creation tools, creating an original curriculum that differed from the regular class. Here is a report on the advanced and practical course that stimulated the children's sensibilities.

STEM=Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education in an integrated manner

Nurturing design thinking with STEAM, which combines STEM with a broad range of arts and liberal arts

The "Aim! On the first day, students learn the basics of design, such as how to express letters and colors, and then try their hand at making restaurant menus, posters, and signs.

The instructor was Ryohei Hayasaka of Stereolab. He lectured the children on the basics of design, such as ease of viewing and conveyance. Another unique feature of Stereolab is that they take the time to teach the children about the nature of colors and what colors are used in signs that you see on the street.

We challenged you to create a menu for your restaurant using Adobe Spark Post, a visual content creation tool launched by Adobe in Japan! One of the main features of Adobe Spark Post is that it is easy to use and allows you to create your own graphics. The main feature of Adobe Spark Post is that it can be easily operated to create the graphics you want. The children mastered the basic operations in just a short time and were very proficient in using it.

Following the menu creation, they tried their hand at poster creation. The expression on their faces as they operated the tablet was very serious as they imagined what kind of people they wanted to attract and what colors they would use.

What surprised me in this lesson was the concentration of the children. They used the time limit given to them to the fullest, and no one gave up on the task.

When they have finished making their assignments, they go forward and present their ideas and points that they were particular about. Listening to everyone's presentation is also a very important task for the children.
