BTA2023 AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTS ANNOUNCED!

I've been using the popular 'ainenne' bed light to support my baby to sleep!

I've used BabyTech!

BabyTech community member parents try out and review BabyTech products of interest to them.

In the first edition of this series, we will be looking at a new product from First Ascent, which will close its crowdfunding campaign on 26 June. The "ainenne" smart bed light helps babies to sleepI've used it!

What is ainenne?

Inspired by the fact that humans can adjust their daily rhythms through exposure to the morning sun, "ainenne" was developed with the aim of providing light stimulation to babies who are unable to be exposed to the morning sun of their own volition, and to support them in adjusting their daily rhythms. The main functions of the device include an alarm function using LED light that mimics sunlight, a "recommended wake-up time" display function that uses AI to help babies form their daily rhythms, and a white noise playback function to support waking and sleeping. It also includes a baby cry analysis function developed independently by the company, which can analyze a baby's cries by simply pressing a button when the baby is crying. In addition, it can be linked to the company's childcare recording application , "Papatto Childcare @ Baby Notebook," to visualize sleep.

2 months Papa's ainenne trial review

Zucki tried it.

Zuki-san
I am a father of a two-and-a-half-month-old boy.
I was looking forward to trying AINENNE because it has many features such as sleep support and cry diagnostics.

How are you raising your children now?

  • She sleeps between 8-10pm, wakes up between 2-4pm to feed her baby, and then sleeps until 6-8pm.
  • I often cry during the day for no apparent reason!

Features I've used in ainennne

  • White noise function
  • Bed light function
  • Crying voice analysis function
  • Record button (sleep onset and wake-up)

Feedback on the use of ainennne

I liked it here!

  • I thought the size was small and just right. It's not too bulky and I can keep it close to my baby wherever he is.
  • There are few buttons and the functions are simple, so I was able to understand and use it intuitively as soon as I read the simple instructions.
  • The night light is a great help. When changing nappies at night it was often difficult to decide whether to move the nappy to a brighter place or do it in the dark, but the blue light cut-out night light has solved this problem. The light is bright enough for me to see my baby's bottom and I can wipe her poo without leaking.

I want this place to be better!

  • The power supply is wired, so we had to get an extension cable and extend it to the baby's bed. I found it a bit cumbersome to unplug and plug it back in when moving the baby around. It would be nice if it was rechargeable and portable. It would be nice to be able to move the night-light from the bed with it and feed the baby directly in the living room.
  • The crying voice diagnosis is a prototype, so there is noise mixed in and it is not yet as accurate as the company's crying voice diagnosis app. Editor's note: This will be resolved in the production version.
So we used the diagnosis as an entertaining form of fortune-telling, but it did help to distract us from our feelings when the baby was crying, and it was a good communication tool for couples.
  • I forgot to press the sleep record button and pressed it a few hours later, thinking it would be better than not pressing it. It would have been nice to be able to check the record and go back and correct it. (Editor's note: The full version of the app will be able to be used in conjunction with the Childcare Record App, and will allow you to check and correct your records.

What else did I feel?

  • Unfortunately, the alarm function did not work during the trial period as my son woke up earlier than the set time. I wanted to make sure that he woke up refreshed by the light of the alarm.
  • We played the white noise function a couple of times and it didn't work very well, even when we played white noise on YouTube etc it didn't work very well, so I thought it might be an individual thing that doesn't suit our child very well.

Adults want to use it too!

  • I would like to have one for adults too. The alarm function is perfect for waking up and I would like to use it as a reading light at night.

Thank you for the detailed report, Zuki!

As the child was already in a good rhythm, it was difficult to see any visible effect of the light on his sleep cycle, but the size, the ease of use and the fact that it was a night light made it convenient for him. However, the size, operation and the fact that it was a night light made it very convenient for her to use. We have heard that the light is also effective for adults, so it would be good for babies and the whole family to use it.
