Rakuten renews Rakuten ABCmouse, an online English education service for children

Rakuten, Inc. (headquartered in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Hiroshi Mikitani, Chairman and CEO; hereinafter "Rakuten") has renewed its online English education service for children, "Rakuten ABCmouse (pronounced "rakuten ABCmouse").

Expanded the target age range to 3-11 years old to meet the needs of elementary school education, which has made foreign language education an early and academic subject.

In this renewal, Rakuten has redesigned the Learning Path (hereinafter referred to as the "Learning Course") while maintaining the concept of "fostering English brains (brain circuits that think and understand English in English without Japanese) while having fun playing," which is the main feature of "Rakuten ABCmouse. The new Learning Path has evolved into a service that allows children to develop their English brains more naturally and efficiently by listening to English and learning English words and phrases through four different approaches: choosing what they understand, practicing, speaking, and reviewing. The service provides a variety of activities and learning content (Note 1) to keep children motivated, and the target age range has been expanded from 3 to 8 years old to 3 to 11 years old. We also responded to the needs for anticipatory learning and supplementary lessons. The company says.

Also, 'In terms of functionality, the programme has been changed to focus on operation on tablets and smartphones, and the UI/UX, including the size of text and illustrations and the effective range of touch and click, has been reviewed to make it more intuitive and comfortable to use. On the management screen for parents, the display of acquired vocabulary, learning time and level of progress has been revised. This has made it possible to grasp progress at a glance and in more detail.
In a further update planned for mid-November, parents will also be able to view audio recordings made by their children during speaking and other activities." The company said.

In response to the growing demand for home learning due to changes in the learning environment in Corona, the service will provide "learning content that allows students to experience English not just in a classroom setting, but as a game through picture books, music, puzzles, etc., using redesigned learning courses and a system with improved operability and convenience. By providing learning content that allows children to interact with English in a game-like manner through picture books, music, puzzles, etc., rather than simply sitting in a classroom, the company has made it possible for children to receive authentic English education at home.

To celebrate the renewal, a "Renewal Campaign" will be held from November 4, 2020 (Wednesday) to January 8, 2021 (Friday), offering this service at a special price.
