It's a Bluetooth tracker as a hardware; it's like the AppleWatch and the iPhone, and the Tile Mate is the AppleWatch equivalent.
All you have to do is make a Bluetooth connection to the app on your phone, and then it will make a sound when you want to find it.
1. Sounds a sound to notify you (Tile→smartphone, smartphone→Tile)
Display the last detected location (you can see the location where Bluetooth was disconnected on the map, so you can go and find it)
3. Search together with Tile community users (even if your Tile and phone are disconnected, Tile users around the world will become antennas and notify your phone as soon as they are found).

No more "Where'd I go? is eliminated. It's an amazingly simple concept, with a device dedicated to just that, and it delivers the best UX to prevent you from losing your precious things. I once lost my car key while shopping at a local supermarket (I think I threw it away by mistake), and I didn't feel like living that day. Ever since then, I've been very nervous about car keys. If I were to use the TileMate, I'd definitely use it on my car keys!
Notably, it has an overwhelming track record: since its release in October 2018, it has sold 24 million units worldwide (No. 1 share in the US). In Japanese yen, it costs 1980 yen. I'll buy it for myself...
