Mayor Hidetaka Sakai of Saga City commented on this initiative as follows
Saga City has set "Promotion of Gender Equality in the Home" as one of its priority initiatives, and has been working to raise awareness of the cooperation and sharing of household chores and childcare between men and women, and to hold lectures and provide information that will lead to practical implementation. This year, the Child Care and Family Care Leave Law was revised to make it easier for fathers to take childcare leave, further increasing the need to support fathers' participation in housework and childcare. We hope to identify various issues and needs related to fathers' participation in housework and childcare and make the best use of these findings in future measures."

Theunis Scheepers, Country Manager, Amazon Alexa International, Japan, said, "We are very pleased to be working with Amazon Alexa.
Amazon actively promotes parental leave as a benefit to support employees raising children, and we are pleased that Saga City is taking this approach to engage fathers with young children in childcare. Through innovations such as Alexa and the Echo series, we offer a variety of services to make the lives of our customers raising children more convenient and comfortable. Alexa can answer your questions and requests, keep track of your baby's growth, and support your daily life even when your hands are busy. We are pleased to combine the knowledge and expertise we have gained through our past efforts with the innovations created by our Device & Service business to promote fathers' participation in housework and childcare together with the city of Saga."
