(Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Motoyo Fujita), publisher of "Anfan" and "Gyutte," information magazines for preschool children and their mothers and fathers, is developing a research business as "Silmir Laboratory. This time, the Silmil Laboratory conducted a nationwide survey of mothers and fathers on the theme of "online medical care and home visit services. Some of the results are presented below.
85.9% of respondents "stay home and watch" when their children have a fever in the 37°C range and they feel the same as usual.
We asked mothers and fathers with preschool children (358 valid responses) whether they would make the decision to "watch their child at home" or "take their child to the hospital" depending on their child's condition (degree of fever / difference from the usual condition). When there was no fever, 9.8% of the respondents said they would "take their child to the hospital" if the child's condition was "different from usual," while 50.3% said they would "take their child to the hospital" if the child was "specifically complaining of physical discomfort. In the case of fever, the results are shown in the graph below, and it seems that for many mothers, the axis of their decision to "take their child to the hospital" is that their child's condition is different from usual.
About 60% of respondents have used nighttime/emergency care, and 20% of mothers have called an ambulance.
The "#8000" (Children's Medical Telephone Consultation) service is available by telephone to pediatricians and nurses on holidays and at night in case of sudden health problems of children. When asked how often they used this service, 9.2% said once every 6 months or more, and 16.5% said about once a year. The use of nighttime/emergency medical services is also shown in the graph below. About 60% of the respondents had used such services, with 17.9% using them about once a year.
19.6% of respondents have called an ambulance when their child suddenly became ill. The most common symptom was "febrile convulsions/convulsions" (47.1%), followed by "injury" (20.0%).
Online medical care and house call services," highly rated for their availability at night and on holidays.
69.6% of the respondents "know" about "online medical care and home visit services" (services that allow users to register via apps, the web, etc. to receive online medical care and home visits by doctors) that can be used when a child is sick. Of these, 83.1% responded that they were "interested. The most common response to the question of what attracted them to the service was "can be used in case of sudden illness at night or on holidays" at 78.51 TP7T, followed by "medical ID card is applicable" at 70.5%, indicating that "can be used in case of emergency" and cost were highly rated.
26.9% of respondents actually downloaded and registered for the application, and the reason they did not download the application even if they were interested was because they were not familiar with the service.
Of those who are aware of the program, more than 80% of mothers are interested in it and find it attractive, yet 26.9% have actually downloaded or registered for it. Including the 29.3% who are "still considering," approximately 70% have not yet downloaded or registered for the service. The top reason given by those who have not downloaded or registered was "I don't understand the service well," followed by "The fee seems expensive.
Online medical care and house calls" services have emerged after the Corona disaster. The key to the spread of this new service, which is downloaded and registered for use in advance, is a more detailed explanation of the service, including its contents and costs. In addition to nighttime/emergency medical services and ambulance services, it is important to deepen understanding of this service so that it becomes a second or third type of "help in case of emergency.
Fast Doctor" ranked first in terms of downloads, registrations and usage.
In October 2023, Children's Research conducted a survey on "online medical care and home visit services" among Web members with children nationwide, and found that "Fast Doctor" ranked first in both "download/registration rate" and "usage rate.
