About "What to Do About Childcare - Future Conference 2023 WINTER

Background

While the "Anyone-Can-Enroll Child Care System" scheduled to be implemented from FY2026 will support many families raising children, there are concerns that the shortage of child care workers who are responsible for the on-site child care services will accelerate. In October 2022, the ratio of effective job offers for child care workers was 2.49 times, much higher than the average for all occupations (1.35 times)*2, indicating that the shortage of child care workers has not yet been resolved. 3 It is essential to create an environment in which childcare workers can work comfortably by making good use of technology, and at the same time, it is essential to create an organization in which childcare workers feel fulfilled. In order to improve this situation, we hold this event every year to provide useful information and a place for self-improvement for those working in the field of childcare.

*2: "Trends in the ratio of effective job offers for childcare workers" (Child and Family Agency, April 2023)

*3: "Report on the Survey of Childcare Workers in Tokyo in 2022" (Tokyo Metropolitan Government, published in May 2023).
