Started early education classes to develop local human resources

(Head office: Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture; President: Hidenobu Tsujibashi), announces that KidsLab, a programming school for children operated by Sun-L, Inc. The course is designed to help children acquire logical thinking from an early age by learning the alphabet and using IchigoJamBASIC, a children's computer dedicated to programming.

Recently, programming education efforts in elementary and junior high schools have been diversifying in accordance with the government's GIGA school concept. The need to acquire "digital skills" in anticipation of the future is accelerating, as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has announced its policy to introduce questions and answers using PCs and tablet terminals for the National Achievement Survey for sixth-grade students and third-grade students as early as 2025.
KidsLab, which started in 2018, offers a curriculum that can be taken by students as young as 3rd grade elementary school students, and has contributed to about 40 students to date. We have been receiving an increasing number of requests for early education in programming from local parents with whom we have built relationships through KidsLab, and we have decided to open a course for preschool children to work on.

Introductory course features.

Original Curriculum

The teaching materials and class content used are original curriculum based on the knowledge we have built over the past 5 years since 2018. The content includes alphabet learning using cards and other original materials that allow 5-year-olds to learn while playing.

Small group nature

Rather than a uniform, one-way education, we have adopted a small-group system with an emphasis on careful involvement through dialogue in small groups. By following up with students based on their individual personalities and aptitudes, the environment is expected to draw out the latent abilities of each child.

Holding parent-teacher conferences

In order to meet the diverse needs of each student, the head of classroom operations and president of San-El, Tsujihashi, conducts a parent-teacher conference once every six months. This is a support system that provides peace of mind for children and parents who are taking on the challenge of learning for the first time. (Interviews can be arranged in accordance with the family's wishes.)

[Future development
In addition to the operation of "Kids Labo," we have also conducted on-site programming classes as elementary school events on behalf of the Mie Prefectural Board of Education. With this background, we are also involved in programming classes for special needs students in Matsusaka City. In the future, we would like to get involved in order to improve the educational gap in the region.
In addition, we are planning to hold hands-on 3D printer and drone workshops by the end of 2023 to proactively create opportunities to use devices that are difficult to use in daily life.
We hope to continue to accompany the children through this "Kids' Lab," creating a place where they can repeat their own trial-and-error and challenge themselves.
If you would like to cover the event, please feel free to contact us so that you can see the class in action.
