BTA2024 Award Winning Products Announced! Second round of judging underway!

SuraNet, a developer and provider of AI educational materials, launches a new service for child-rearing support, "HOMEBILITY PARENTING" this spring.

A praise parenting program and community of practice support that creates a virtuous cycle of parent-child relationships.

- The following is content from the press release -

(Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takahiko Yunokawa), which develops and provides AI-based adaptive interactive ICT learning materials, offers a program that focuses on behavior modification for children based on behavior therapy, mainly for parents who are struggling with raising children who are not learning study habits, are not attending school, or have developmental disabilities. The service consists of a program to learn effective praise skills and techniques, and community activities where participants can share their learning practices with their peers and receive feedback. Applications for participation are available through the official website. (Japanese only) https://surala.jp/homebility/ )

With the increase in the number of users with truancy and developmental disabilities, support for parents with significant worries and anxieties is also available.

The number of children who are not attending school has doubled over the past five years to approximately 300,000*1 and the number of children with developmental disabilities has more than quadrupled over the past 10 years*2 to approximately 100,000. It can be said that the number of parents who have worries and anxieties about child rearing has likewise increased.

The AI educational material "Sulara," developed and provided by SularaNet, is used not only by schools and tutoring schools, but also by individuals for home study. The percentage of children with developmental disabilities and those who have stopped going to school has been increasing. In 2018, we opened the Child Development Support Office with the participation of a full-time clinical psychologist. In addition to supporting children's learning by providing educational materials, the office has been supporting parents in raising their children by holding "praise-bility courses" to learn how to relate to their children and supporting non-attending school students in using the attendance system.

One of the parenting support programs, the "Praisebility Course" is a program for parents to learn specific child-rearing skills such as how to praise and instruct their children, applying parent training systematized by American child psychologists in the 1960s and focusing on behavior modification of children based on behavior therapy. While incorporating techniques and skills necessary for parenting such as anger management and assertive communication, participants will learn the power of praising their children = praise-ability.

Helping parents learn how to respond to their children and guide their children's behavior in the desired direction.
Development of programs for understanding, retention, and practice, and mechanisms for continuity that only a teaching materials company can provide.

During the trial period of the "Homebility Course," a video delivery style of an online course by a clinical psychologist was tried. While there was a high level of satisfaction with the course, there was an issue regarding the continuation rate afterwards. From the participant survey, we found two main reasons for this: 1. loneliness (no one to support you, stress, children swearing at you, and feeling like you are losing heart), and 2. doubts (not knowing if you are doing the right thing, not being told immediately what to do if you have a problem or trouble). The survey revealed that the most common reasons for this were: 1.

Therefore, our new service, "HOMELOVILITY PARENTING," offers an online community with easy-to-empathize groupings based on the child's age, situation, and parenting style. Once you have practiced the knowledge and techniques you have learned, you can share them with the community. Feedback from mentors and replies of support from other practitioners will be sent in response to the shared content, providing an environment where you can continue to practice while receiving encouragement and advice. This will help to eliminate the loneliness and doubts of practicing, and will enable you to acquire a solid understanding of the content. In addition, we have improved the online lectures to make it easier for busy people to engage in the course by summarizing the content in about 5 minutes so that they can watch the lectures on their smartphones during their spare time. In addition, by making exercises and confirmation tests available via web drills, students are able to consolidate their knowledge before putting it into practice.

A survey conducted after the test service showed an 82%*3 implementation rate and a 96.4%*3 improvement rate in children's behavior. This service is designed to ensure that learning is put into practice and acquired through the development of programs for understanding, retention, and practice, as only an educational materials company can, and through mechanisms that allow for continuity.

In the future, Surara Net is considering developing this service for all adults involved in children's education, including school teachers and cram school instructors. Through the spread of "HOMEBILITY," we will contribute to the development of children who will be active in society.

3 Target: 132 participants in the January-December 2023 trial version of the HOMELOYABILITY course.
