MamaWell, Inc. aims to realize a society in which women's career development is not interrupted by pregnancy and childbirth. MamaWell supports both pregnant women and their supervisors in resolving issues related to workload adjustments they face in the workplace by analyzing health data of pregnant women, and works to deepen understanding of pregnant women within the company.
Background of Service Creation
Due to women's entry into the workforce and the diversification of their life plans, Japan is currently facing the problem of an aging of the gestational age as a result of later marriages. are older births. Pregnancy at an advanced age is known to increase the risk of pregnancy complications such as gestational hypertension and pregnancy term depression, and it is expected to become increasingly important to prevent abnormalities in the course of pregnancy and maintain the health of pregnant women in the future. In order to prevent pregnancy complications, it is important to engage in appropriate physical activity during pregnancy. However, the idea that "it is better to rest as much as possible after pregnancy" still persists among Japanese, and inactivity among pregnant women is a serious problem, with less than 8% of pregnant women meeting the internationally recommended amount of activity.
What MamaWell can do for you
MamaWell has launched "Japan's first service for accompanying pregnant women," in which a personal midwife accompanies pregnant women as a runner, in order to solve their lack of activity. The three pillars of this service are "health monitoring," "lifestyle planning," and "periodic interviews. In "health monitoring," users wear a wristwatch-type device that measures the amount of daily activity numerically. In the "Periodic Interviews," personal midwives attend to users' concerns and worries, and based on the data measured by the device, provide exercise advice and lifestyle improvement support to improve comfort level through "lifestyle planning" to achieve an appropriate activity level suited to each individual. In Japan, the notion that "exercise should be avoided during pregnancy" is deeply rooted, but in reality, moderate physical activity during pregnancy has been shown to be helpful in preventing pregnancy complications and postpartum depression. At our company, only midwives who have passed training in specialized knowledge and skills regarding physical activity for pregnant women become personal midwives, and support a healthy pregnancy as a companion for pregnant women.

MamaWell's vision is "to realize a society where women can live healthier and more comfortable lives" and our mission is "to provide evidence-based support for women's health throughout their lives". This project is the first realization of our mission and aims to reduce the number of pregnant women who deviate from the normal course of pregnancy, thereby eventually achieving health maintenance for all pregnant women. We also aim to prevent unexpected leave of absence or separation from work among working women before and after childbirth, and to achieve seamless career development so that pregnancy and childcare do not become factors that limit career growth. In addition to pregnant women, we will expand the scope of support to include young women and adolescent women who will become pregnant in the next few years, aiming for a society free of anxiety about pregnancy and childbirth.
