TCI Corporation, in cooperation with NTT Communications Corporation, has incorporated the "Simple Location Service" technology provided by NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and NTT Communications Corporation into TCI's anti-leaving device "SOS-0006" to provide a system that can detect when a child has been left behind, The system is capable of detecting children who have been left behind from remote locations.
(hereinafter referred to as "TCI") will start providing a remote detection service for kindergarten nursery school educational institutions and senior citizen facilities nationwide on November 1, 2023, utilizing "SOS-0006," a pick-up bus leaving prevention system provided by TCI, and "Easy Location Information Service" provided by NTT DOCOMO, INC. and NTT Communications Corporation in cooperation with NTT DoCoMo, Inc. The service will be available from November 1, 2023, to kindergartens, nursery schools, educational institutions, and senior citizen facilities nationwide.
This service will enable kindergartens that have installed an anti-leaving system to detect by e-mail when an external speaker is triggered, making it possible to detect children left behind even at sites where parking lots are located far from the kindergartens.
TCI Corporation will continue to introduce the service to educational institutions nationwide, aiming to provide the service to 300 schools by 2024.
background
Following last year's incident in Shizuoka Prefecture in which a child was left behind on a courtesy bus, it has become mandatory to install an anti-leaving system on preschool buses starting in April 2023.
An anti-leaving system can be an effective system as a device that encourages people to make it a habit to check the inside of their vehicles.
TCI sold the SOS-0006 anti-leaving device in November 2022, and in February 2023, the device was listed on the Agency for Children and Families' "List of Safety Devices to Assist in Preventing Leaving of Pick-up and Drop-off Buses" and received a certification number (A-007).
Although the quality of these products is guaranteed because they meet the standards set by the guidelines, simply installing an anti-leaving device is not enough to ensure that they will not be left behind.
The anti-leaving device is an auxiliary device that is effective only when combined with human verification. However, the risk of missing something due to human error must also be considered.
In order to make the detection of being left behind in such a situation more robust, the background of this project is to realize the prevention of being left behind by linking it with the "Easy Location Information Service".
Overview and Main Functions
TCI's SOS-0006 park-and-ride bus leave-behind prevention device is a type of leave-behind prevention device called a "check when getting off" type that encourages rearward checks.
If the rear red button is not pressed within a certain period of time after the engine is stopped, an external speaker will be activated. If a child is left behind, pressing the SOS button will likewise trigger the external speaker to call for help.
By linking the "Easy Location Service" here, an email is sent to the designated terminal when an external speaker is triggered, thereby reducing the risk of omission of confirmation and enabling double checking.
Linkage with external speakers
Benefits of the Lost and Found Email System
If a pick-up/drop-off vehicle fails to check the inside of a vehicle or leaves a child unattended, a loud speaker (approx. 110 dB) will emit an alarm to notify the surrounding area.
To prevent such detection omissions, by linking with the "Easy Location Information Service,
When the loud speaker is triggered, an e-mail will be sent to a designated PC, smartphone, or other device to prevent detection leakage.
