Little Planet, a next-generation theme park where play turns into learning ( https://litpla.com On September 12 (Space Day), JAXA launched "ASTRO DELIVERY / Drawing Rocket Delivery Service," a new digital attraction themed on rocket development, at 11 permanent park locations across Japan.
The program is scheduled to run through Thursday, December 21.
As of September 2023, Little Planet has 11 permanent parks nationwide and 1 overseas (Taiwan). As of September 2023, there are 11 permanent parks nationwide and 1 overseas (Taiwan).
Design your rocket freely! Attractions
ASTRO DELIVERY/Drawing Rocket Delivery Service" is a new attraction that combines children's favorite "drawing" and "rocket development" to nurture their imagination.
The stage is set by Astrodelivery, a company that delivers couriers to any location in space. Experiencers are challenged to design a rocket that can fly farther in order to deliver the new delivery person "Cosmo" to the destination planet.
When a special scanner reads the picture of the rocket you have drawn, the rocket appears on the screen as a realistic 3D rocket and takes off into space. The flying distance of the rocket changes depending on the color and shape of the rocket you have drawn, so you can enjoy the excitement of building your own rocket while thinking, "What kind of airframe will fly farther? You can enjoy the exciting and thrilling rocket making experience while thinking "What kind of aircraft would fly farther?
Uematsu Electric is a special advisor! Utilizing formulas used in rocket development
The design of the rocket and the mechanism of its flight distance were created with reference to the actual calculation formula used in rocket development, with Uematsu Electric Corporation, a rocket manufacturer and space development company in Akahira, Hokkaido, as a special advisor.
The "Nenryo Tank" on the coloring paper is modeled on LTP (Low Melting Point Solid Fuel), which is attracting attention as the next-generation solid rocket fuel, and is inspired by the optimal balance of propellant "fuel" and "oxidizer" necessary for a rocket. By painting the tank full of colors, the rocket can be flown farther.
We will draw children's interest in the space business by making them feel more familiar with rocket development through the time they spend playing at the attraction.
Special cooperation from Yokohama National University Elementary School!
As part of Little Planet's hands-on learning program, fifth-grade students from Yokohama Elementary School attached to the Faculty of Education of Yokohama National University were in charge of drafting the attraction's characters, setting the stage, and designing the rocket.
Through presentations and discussions over a period of about four months during "comprehensive learning time*," the participants came up with ideas to expand the world view of "ASTRO DELIVERY.
*Integrative learning time...plays an increasingly important role in the coming age, as it aims to cultivate the qualities and abilities to better solve problems and think about one's own way of life through inquiry-based views and thinking and through cross-sectional and comprehensive learning in response to a rapidly changing society. The goal is to develop the qualities and abilities needed to better solve problems and think about one's own life through comprehensive transversal learning. Little Planet will continue to provide children across Japan with the experience of "imagination becoming creativity" through "Future Asobi".
About "Little Planet," a next-generation theme park
Little Planet creates a world where children can think, learn, and interact with others through new experiences that fuse the unchanging "play" that everyone knows with "technology," and nurtures their ability to open the door to the future.
The attractions were developed based on the "five experiences" of "experiencing, exploring, thinking, creating, and interacting," and can be enjoyed intuitively by everyone, transcending generational, linguistic, regional, and cultural boundaries. Data collected during playtime is recorded in a wristband called "Sharing," which is specially designed for the park, to provide each child with a personalized "future experience.
