- The following is content from the press release -
(Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tomoyuki Hattori; hereinafter "First Ascent") has launched the Keio Digital Pediatrics Project (KDiP), a comprehensive research project on child growth and lifestyle, with the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Keio University, utilizing data acquired through the "Papatto Ikko" childcare record application provided by First Ascent. Project (KDiP), a comprehensive research project on children's growth and lifestyle. By analyzing real-world data on children in modern Japan, we will visualize the range of typical conditions and personalities of children. Furthermore, we will tackle themes that have been difficult to verify so far, such as "sleep and development," "night crying and parental stress," and "gender and crying patterns. We will deepen our scientific understanding of children and explore evidence-based approaches to "better child-rearing.
In today's Japanese society, the nuclear family is becoming more common, more parents are working together, and working styles and lifestyles are becoming more diverse. Children's lives are also affected by the lifestyles of their caregivers. Appropriate habits and environment are considered important in promoting children's growth and development. However, since there is no statistical data on children's lifestyles, guidance on child-rearing is based on experience.
For this research, First Ascent, which operates the "Papatto Ikko" childcare record application that has been used by more than 800,000 children, and the Department of Pediatrics at Keio University School of Medicine, which has specialists in 13 areas of pediatrics, have formed a research team. This joint research project, named the Keio Digital Pediatrics Project (KDiP), will analyze data on Japanese children from the perspectives of various specialties, while at the same time compiling their findings to comprehensively understand children as individuals. Conventional pediatric research has focused on growth and nutrition, while KDiP can combine data on growth and development, which reflect the long-term health of children, with daily life records such as nutrition, diet, sleep, elimination, and crying, thus enabling analysis of "sleep and development," "nighttime crying and parental stress," and "parental stress". This makes it possible to explore themes that have been difficult to verify in the past, such as "sleep and development," "night crying and parental stress," and "gender and crying patterns. KDiP, a collaboration between First Ascent, a frontrunner in baby tech, and the Department of Pediatrics of Keio University School of Medicine, a group of specialists in pediatric medicine, will deepen scientific understanding of children and explore evidence-based approaches to "better childcare.
