Convenient information sharing between husband and wife with IFTTT!

Hello! I am Ogamari.
Now that our daughter has turned one year old, she has started going to preschool, has more hospital visits, and is going out more frequently. I can no longer keep up with sharing my schedule with my husband verbally or on line each time we go out.
We have tried various schedule sharing apps, but in the end we came to the conclusion that "LINE is the best, isn't it? We have come to the conclusion that "LINE is the best", and we would like to introduce how we, as a married couple, utilize LINE!

Linking Google Calendar and LINE!

In our home, we use a service called "IFTTT" to link Google Calendar and LINE.
IFTTT (If This Then That) is a service that links various services and devices on the Internet to perform specified actions when certain conditions (triggers) occur.
For example, "Notify LINE when you make an appointment in Google Calendar" or "Notify LINE 30 minutes before the appointment registered in Google Calendar".

Notification when an appointment is registered

Notification 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment

First, advance preparation

Before using IFTTT, make preliminary preparations in each of Google Calendar and LINE.

Preparation of Google Calendar in advance

It is useful to prepare a common Google account for family use. In our family, we have added a dedicated calendar for children's appointments. Of course, there is no problem to put the appointments in the calendar created under the account name.

Preparation in advance of LINE

I created a group for two couples to receive notifications from IFTTT, as IFTTT does not allow notifications to be sent to regular talks.
The group to which you want to send the notification is marked with "LINE NotifyYou will need to add an account called

Let's use IFTTT!

Once you have made preliminary preparations, you can use IFTTT to set up notifications!

Create an IFTTT account

https://ifttt.com/ and click on the "Start today" or "Get started" button to create an account.

To set up from a computer, simply select "Neither".

You will be asked which application you would like to link with. Select "Google Calendar" at the bottom to proceed.

Start your trial" and information on paid plans will be displayed, but since this configuration is possible with the free plan, click "Not now" to proceed.

On the "Recommended Applets" screen, you will see a number of recommended settings, but do not select any and click "Get started" to proceed.

Set triggers and processes

When the Explore screen appears, click the "Create" button in the upper right corner.

The "If This" field is used to set the trigger (in this case, "When I register an appointment"), and the "Then That" field is used to set what kind of processing to do (in this case, "Notify LINE").
The trigger for "If This" is Google Calendar, so search for Google Calendar and click on the icon.

In this case, we want LINE to be notified "when a new event is added," so select "New event added.

The Google Calendar integration screen will appear, so link it to the calendar you created in the preliminary preparation.

I selected a calendar called "(daughter's name)'s schedule" which I had added in advance!

The trigger has been successfully set!

Next, set up "Then That"; since we want to notify LINE, the application to be linked is LINE.

Select "Send Message" to set the message content for the implementation.

Once If and Then are set, click "Continue" and then "Finish" to complete the setup!

Let's actually register an appointment on Google Calendar. Did you receive a notification on LINE successfully?

If you wish to send a reminder notification, simply create a process in the same way again using the "Create" button.
Select "Any event starts" for the Google Calendar trigger. You can also set how long before the start of the event you want to be reminded.

It can be linked to many other things!

In this case, we linked Google Calendar and LINE, but IFTTT can also link to other platforms such as Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google Drive, Amazon Alexa, and many more!
Everyone, please try to make your life more convenient with IFTTT.

Child of the Week.

I have been baptized by the nursery school and have been suffering from fever and fevers every day... I have not been able to go to the nursery school even once this month (tears). How are the children who started attending this spring doing?
