Make your daily childcare routine stress-free with Alexa's "canned actions"! |With IT enthusiast mom Ogamari's baby tech!

Hello! I am Ogamari.
I am a 37 year old freelancer who had her first baby this past May.
In this issue, we will show you how to use Alexa's "canned actions" to make it more convenient!
Please refer to our two previous articles on the use of Alexa for childcare.

Let us introduce you to them!

What is Alexa's "canned action"?

Canned Actions are one of the features that allow you to customize Alexa.

  • Set your own favorite phrase and give instructions.
  • Make the user perform multiple actions with a single instruction.

This is possible.

I have never used this feature before, so I will try it this time! If you have Alexa at hand, let's do this together!

Try to set up your favorite phrase!

First, I would like to try to set up a phrase.
In this issue, we will make "PiyoLog" more convenient to use.
With the default settings specified in the piyo log,

"Alexa, record your pee-pee on the PiYoLog."
"Alexa, record milk 200 in the PiyoLog."

and it will not start unless you add "Pee Log de". My husband often forgets to say "Alexa, record your pee-pee" and "Piyolog de", and I say "I made a mistake again! I would like to be able to record only "Alexa, I peed! I would like to make it possible to record only "Alexa, I pee-pee!

First, open the "Alexa App" on your smartphone and select "Canned Actions" from "Others".

Tap the "+" symbol in the upper right corner or in the center of the screen.

Three items will be set up. First, tap "Enter a canned action name.

The canned action name is "What's the setting?" and you can name it anything you like so that you can recognize yourself. Tap "Next" after entering the name.

Select "Set Execution Conditions" and tap "Voice."

Set what phrase you want to use to instruct Alexa. In this case, we want to record "Alexa, I peed", so we type "I peed" and tap "Next".

Tap "Custom" under "Add Action."

Here, enter the phrase that PiYoLog specifies by default ("Record your pee-pee with PiYoLog").
It means that the action set here is triggered by the phrase set in the execution condition!

Once you have entered the information, tap "Next" and finally tap "Save" to complete the setup!
Now you can record in the PiYoLog just by saying "Alexa, I peed! is all it takes to record it in the PiYoLog.
The same procedure should be used to set up poop, milk, etc!

Try to make multiple movements!

A canned action can also perform multiple actions with a single execution condition.

In our house, we always have a child who starts to doze off.

  • Alexa, turn down the volume.
  • Alexa, play a lullaby.

and two separate instructions, so this time I will complete this with just "Alexa, let's go to sleep"!

The procedure is the same as registering a favorite phrase, just set up multiple actions!
Set "Alexa, about to sleep" in "Voice" as the execution condition, and in the action

  • Device Settings" > "Volume" > 10% (Volume 1)
  • Music Podcast>"Lullabies"

The two were set up in the following two ways.

When I said, "Alexa, I'm going to sleep," the volume was safely set to one and the lovely music box music began to play! It was a great success!

Use canned actions!

As you can see in the Canned Action Registration screen, various execution conditions and actions can be set for canned actions.
"Could this be made more convenient?" "Could this be done more conveniently? Please try to arrange it while thinking "Could this be more convenient?

Amazon has also provided information on how to use the system for childcare! Actions are provided in QR codes for easy setup.

Take advantage of Alexa's canned actions!

First time we traveled an hour away by train. She rode without crying even once! Thank you!
