This application service supports childcare sites using Al. The following three services have already been released.

A service (released in January 2016) that predicts when to eat or defecate and notifies users when it is time to eat or defecate."
An AI Service to Analyze Emotions from a Baby's Cries (Released July 2018)."
"Message Notification Services to Improve Quality of Life (e.g., alert messages for nighttime crying frequency) (to be released March 2019)"

Background of development and issues addressed

After launching the service, the company began developing an "AI service that analyzes emotions from babies' cries" and a "message notification service aimed at improving QOL" based on users' requests to "know why babies are crying" and "help with postpartum depression.
In order to avoid erroneous results from the "Papatte Ikkoiku@Akachan Techo" data validation, we have decided to seek the cooperation of the National Center for Child Health and Development, the No. 1 research institute for pediatric medicine in Japan, and to build evidence through joint research.
For the analysis of baby cries, there was a problem in the collection of teacher data, which was the basis for the algorithm construction. We collected "date and time of crying," "reason for crying (based on mother's subjectivity)," and "voice of crying" data from approximately 20,000 monitor users collected through "Papatto Ikkoiku@Baby Notebook." However, "reason for crying" was dependent on mother's subjectivity, and there was a possibility that a wrong reason would be registered.

To solve this problem, we evaluated the certainty of the "reason why the baby cried" by comparing the date and time the baby cried with the childcare records collected by "Papatto Ikkoiku@Baby Notebook. This approach succeeded in constructing "clean teacher data," and an algorithm with a high correct answer rate was successfully constructed.

BabyTech Editor's Comment.

It is a pioneer in using AI to support childcare. In addition to its effectiveness in helping mothers raise their children, the system notifies users who cry a lot at night with a message, and has shown that 30% of the families notified become fathers who actively participate in childcare after the information is shared. The total number of users of the childcare record is more than 500,000, and there has been joint research with the National Center for Child Health and Development. We continue to deliver highly accurate information sharing with AI to help both parents face childcare together.
