What is BabyTech?

What is BabyTech?

BabyTech is a generic term that refers to a category of smart devices and IT services that support pregnancy pregnancy, childbirth, and infant child rearing.

The 'BabyTech' genre began at CES in 2016 and gained recognition in 2018 with a floor being established in the category. There are many start-ups and crowdfunding opportunities in Europe and the US.

In Japan, the BabyTech Award Japan 2019 hosted by us was held in 2019, starting to raise awareness of the term and the market; NHK reported that "2021 is the first year of BabyTech", expanding awareness in the childcare and nursery industry. The number of opportunities for the general public to come into contact with BabyTech are gradually increasing, as evidenced by the launch of a permanent BabyTech sales stand at Akachan Honpo, a major baby goods retailer, in spring 2022.
In addition, baby tech seminars have been held for institutional investors at securities companies, and large-scale fundraising has been carried out by baby tech companies, with both start-ups and large companies now focusing their attention on the baby tech business.

The base of baby tech

As mentioned above, 'BabyTech' is defined as technology products and services that support and accompany the entire pregnancy period, postpartum and childcare life, as well as the accompanying housework, work and lifestyle.

Among these, those using advanced technologies represented by AI, IoT, etc. are positioned as advanced BabyTech.

We regard electrical appliances and internet services that help with housework and lifestyle during childcare as the gateway to BabyTech, and consider them to be of great significance as a first step in helping consumers to imagine and adopt childcare with technology by their side.
