There are many issues such as anxiety and lack of information about troubling symptoms during pregnancy and child-rearing, difficulty in finding out reliable information about medicines for oneself, and inability to easily visit or consult with one's family medical institution on holidays or at night, which often leads to concerns about the use of medicines during pregnancy and lactation. By providing "Kusuribo" to pregnant women and families raising children, we will make it easier for them to search for information based on their own circumstances, thereby helping to alleviate anxiety during pregnancy and child-rearing.

What is "Pregnancy and Lactation Drug Guide Bot (Kusuribo)"?

During pregnancy and lactation, a woman's body undergoes major changes. And, although it varies from person to person, it can take as long as one to two years between pregnancy and the end of breastfeeding, during which time a woman may suffer from a variety of symptoms.

.

  • Pregnancy: headache, constipation, upset stomach, itchy skin/eczema, cold symptoms (runny nose, cough, etc.)
  • Lactation: fever, headache, joint pain, back pain, difficulty sleeping well, etc.

Although there are medications that are actually widely used during these periods for safety reasons, it is often difficult to gather appropriate information on your own, and the time of day and the presence of small children often make it impossible to see a hospital immediately.

Obstetrics & Gynecology Online" and "Pediatrics Online" have analyzed more than 80,000 consultation data received through online consultation, and built a system that can search for drug information based on the situation during pregnancy and lactation. This is the "Pregnancy and Lactation Drug Guide Bot (Kusuribo).

  • Pregnancy: number of weeks of pregnancy, any complications/pre-existing conditions you have, symptoms that are troubling you.
  • Lactating: number of months postpartum, lactation status, any complications/previous illnesses you have, symptoms that are troubling you.

You can always search for information on medications that are appropriate for your situation by entering
The information pages on each medication are prepared and supervised by two or more obstetricians and gynecologists, and include information such as "self-care methods," "situations that should not be judged by self-determination," and "situations in which early medical consultation is recommended," to ensure safety.

Representative of Obstetrics and Gynecology Online / Representative of Kusuribo Development Daisuke Shigemi, OB/GYN physician, comments

We verified the convenience and safety of Kusuribo as part of a demonstration survey and research on the use of baby tech and other services conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Odawara City. We are very happy to have this opportunity.
Many expectant and nursing mothers tell us that they actually had symptoms that had been bothering them between hospital visits but they had been able to tolerate them without using any medicine during their antenatal and postnatal checkups, and we hear them say, "I couldn't find information that matched my situation even if I looked it up on the Internet, etc.". It would be better if they could inquire at their local medical institution each time, but it is not that easy, as they are closed at night, for example.

The results show that about 90% of the users were satisfied with the service and wanted to use it again, despite the fact that it is an automatic response bot service, and we believe that the 24-hour availability and immediate availability of reliable information contributed to the high satisfaction rate. The service also received a certain level of safety evaluation, with zero health problems occurring after using the service.
We will continue to expand the introduction of the system to municipalities and companies so that many expectant and nursing mothers can use it.
