This is a series of product introductions that were Finalists at the 2016 BabyTechAward. This time it is a thermometer.
A unique feature is that you only need to hold it to your ear when taking your temperature. It saves you the trouble of putting it under your arm. The measured temperature can be sent to the smartphone app via Bluetooth, and at that time, it is possible to log symptoms (such as cough/lethargy/chills/runny nose), diagnosis details, and medications taken, so that the information can be taught to the doctor when he or she diagnoses the patient. Logs for multiple people can be registered.
According to Bridge's article (http://thebridge.jp/2015/09/kinsa-smart-ear-therometer), the company started with crowdfunding. It now counts three product lines, and the business seems to be expanding steadily.
Product Lineup
Two types of thermometers are available: the Smart Stick, which is attached to the earphone jack of a smartphone and placed in the mouth to measure body temperature, and the Smart Thermometer, which can be simply placed in the ear. The Stick is priced at 19$ and the Thermometer at 49$.
User Reviews
Amazon.com review of Smart Thermometerto a certain number of people who are upset that the temperature measurement is not accurate. While that seems to be an issue for the future (of course it has to be accurate), the good design of the thermometer shines through in its easy handling. Some reviewers have even used it on their pets. Users are surpassing the creators more and more. lol
