Japan Orthodontic Research Association for Children as an expert and started providing regular information twice a month.
- The following is content from the press release -
The Japan Orthodontic Association for Children (located in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Hidenori Fujii) is a general incorporated association,
Focusing on the relationship between childhood growth and the oral environment, we will begin disseminating information in March 2026 with the aim of informing society about the management and support of the oral cavity in accordance with growth phases.

In recent years, there has been growing interest in children's dental alignment and bite,
Conceptual guidelines such as "the importance of early response" and "the impact of the oral environment on growth" have come to be shared to a certain degree by society.
On the other hand,
What to observe and how to manage and support each stage of growth
It is difficult to say that the specific perspectives and methods of "what is the best way to achieve this goal" have been sufficiently organized and shared.
We will continue to disseminate the knowledge that we have organized as an academic society by considering pediatric orthodontics as a “management and support process” that includes growth, living environment, and oral function, rather than just "treatment with appliances" as we consider this disconnection of information to be an issue. We will continue to disseminate the knowledge we have organized as an academic society.
Checkpoints for children's growth and oral environment to consider each season
This initiative will focus on the stages of children's growth throughout the year, and will organize and disseminate checkpoints for the oral environment that should be checked at home each season.
The first issue will focus on basic perspectives on reviewing a child's growth and oral environment, just in time for the start of a new school year.

In addition to morphological changes such as tooth eruption and jaw growth, the oral environment during childhood is formed under the influence of daily behaviors and environment, such as eating style, posture, breathing, and lifestyle. In this workshop, we will present the viewpoint of checks that lead to awareness at home, from the viewpoint of when and what points are important to observe during the growth process, rather than "responding to problems after they become apparent". In addition, based on the knowledge and research trends accumulated by academic societies and research groups from the standpoint of experts, we will organize and continually disseminate information on how to understand and manage the oral environment according to the growth stages. In order to systematically disseminate such information throughout the year, this initiative includes the publication of an annual schedule of academic conferences that shows the themes and contents for each season, and provides parents and medical professionals with reference information to help them view their children's growth from a long-term perspective.
Regular information dissemination by the Society

Information dissemination will be in the form of a twice-monthly column (Part 1 and Part 2) with a monthly theme.
The conference schedule can be found here.

Article Supervision and Writing
Information dissemination in this initiative will be supervised and written by dentists and specialists belonging to the Japan Orthodontic Research Society, and will be disseminated in a form that organizes the views of the society.
It is characterized by the fact that it does not recommend specific treatments or clinics, but rather provides information from the perspective of how to view and support the oral environment surrounding children during their growth period.
About the Japan Orthodontic Society

The Japan Orthodontic Association does not limit orthodontic treatment to "treatment of teeth alignment" for children,
We view this as medical care that addresses the growth and development of the child itself, and work to promote oral health care that takes advantage of growth during the developmental period.
Dental malposition is a consequence, which is deeply related to the growth of the jaw and the development of oral functions such as breathing, swallowing, and chewing.
Focusing on these growth processes, this study group explores medical care that supports healthy growth in childhood from a comprehensive perspective that includes the development of oral functions.
Specifically, the project will share knowledge and conduct educational activities through workshops and seminars for dental health care professionals, as well as
We provide the general public, including parents, with easy-to-understand information on the concept and management perspectives of the oral environment according to growth stages.
We place great importance on creating an information infrastructure so that medical care and society can share a common understanding and support children's development over the long term.
