Ltd. (hereafter "Akachan Honpo") and Conehito Co., Ltd. (hereafter "Conehito") are pleased to announce an online seminar "What is Well-Being? ~What is the ideal way of working? (hereinafter referred to as "Conehito") held an online seminar entitled "What is Well-Being?

This seminar was planned as part of efforts to improve employee wellbeing and create a more rewarding work environment. In particular, the seminar focused on the growing social interest in male parental leave and the positive impact it can have on the employee, his family, and the organization.

Through this kind of collaboration, Akachan Honpo and Conehito will continue to consider and expand projects that contribute not only to men taking childcare leave, but also to improving individual wellbeing, corporate productivity, and the sustainability of society as a whole, thereby contributing to the realization of a society where everyone can work with peace of mind and balance work and child rearing. Seminar Content

  1. What is wellbeing?
    Basic concepts of wellbeing such as happiness and fulfillment.
    We deepened our discussion on its importance in organizations and its relevance to the way individuals work.
  2. Unconscious Bias of Sexual Role Assignment
    Unconscious bias (unconscious bias) creates a sense of gender roles,
    The impact on an individual's career and work style was explained with examples.
  3. A word or attitude from a supervisor or colleague creates a culture.
    The impact of the words, actions, and attitudes of managers and co-workers on the overall workplace atmosphere and employee attitudes.
    The importance of specific actions and communication by supervisors to encourage male employees to take male parental leave was explained.
  4. Childcare leave is viewed as a "secondment" rather than a "vacation".
    He explained that he does not see childcare leave as just a vacation, but as a valuable opportunity to gain new skills and perspectives, and that the experience will lead to his own growth and contribution to the organization.

 During the Q&A session, participants asked many specific questions about taking male parental leave, as well as consultation on their own company's initiatives.

Results of Participant Survey

Gender: About 50% of the participants were male, accounting for half of the total number of participants.

Satisfaction: About 80% of the respondents answered "satisfied".

These results suggest that interest in male childcare and the creation of a workplace environment that supports it is growing, and that this seminar was able to meet this need.

Participant comments (excerpts)

■ Raise understanding and awareness of childcare leave
 The program has increased understanding and awareness of childcare leave.
 In particular, he sympathized with the idea that "childcare leave is not a vacation but a secondment," and reaffirmed the importance of childcare leave.

■Male parental leave and postpartum depression
 I gained a new perspective on the importance of men taking parental leave and postpartum depression in men.
 This has increased awareness of the points at which men should also be actively involved in childcare and the points at which they should be careful.

■Well-being and Unconscious Bias
 I have a better understanding of wellbeing and unconscious bias.
 The importance of consideration and support in the workplace was reaffirmed.

■ Childcare Leave System and Practice
 Specific explanations about the childcare leave system were helpful.
 In particular, the perspective that childcare leave can lead to career advancement was refreshing.

■Support and Care in the Workplace
 The participants were able to learn about specific actions and mindset to support employees taking childcare leave.
 The perspectives from the standpoints of supervisors and colleagues were particularly helpful.

■The gap between reality and ideals
 He felt a sense of challenge in the lack of progress in men taking childcare leave.

Some participants expressed that they wanted more concrete examples and practical information, which we will incorporate into future planning. Based on the survey results, we will continue to promote better planning and initiatives.
