Oisix La Daichi Corporation (headquartered in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Kohei Takashima, President & CEO; hereinafter "Oisix"), a provider of food subscription services, has announced that its food service business "Sukusuku Oisix" for childcare facilities such as nursery schools and kindergartens, in collaboration with group company (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Yusuke Tsutsumi; hereinafter "Sidax"), will start offering a new model of meal kits for commercial use and a new system for ordering menus from Monday, February 3, 2025. Sukusuku Oisix will continue to make further contributions to solving the 2025 problem of childcare through its "Taipa School Lunch" proposal.

The "Childcare 2025 Problem" is becoming increasingly serious. Concerns about declining quality of childcare, rising childcare fees, and worsening working conditions for childcare workers.

According to a survey by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the number of children using childcare facilities is expected to peak in 2025, and the "childcare 2025 problem" has become an issue as an increasing number of facilities are expected to find it difficult to continue their operations due to a lack of capacity. The total fertility rate and the number of births in the 2023 Vital Statistics released by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare have recorded a record low, and the decline in the number of children using childcare facilities will accelerate in the future,Decline in quality of childcare due to revision of standards for allocation of childcare workers and consolidation of facilities; increase in childcare fees due to insufficient operating expenses for childcare facilities; unstable employment of childcare workers and worsening of the working environmentIn addition, the childcare industry is faced with a chronic shortage of human resources and rising food costs. In addition, the childcare industry is facing a chronic shortage of human resources and rising food costs.

Oisix and Sidax Collaborate to Solve Issues with "Taipa School Lunch" Stable facility operation with a small number of cooks as required, and original menus unique to the school can be provided without any burden.

Oisix is also collaborating with SIDACCS, which is engaged in the contracted operation of school lunch services at daycare facilities, and is promoting group-wide efforts under the keyword of "Taipa School Lunch. Taking advantage of Oisix's unique system of providing food materials and other services within the group and operating meal services on consignment, we are developing services that speedily reflect the opinions of front-line workers. As of January 2025, the number of facilities that have subscribed to Sukusuku Oisix totaled 950, and the total number of facilities that have subscribed to the meal service for childcare facilities of the entire Group, including the Company and Sidax Food Service Co. In order to further promote solutions to issues in the childcare industry, we will begin offering a new model of meal kits for commercial use and a new system for ordering menus from February 3, 2025 (Monday).

New commercial meal kit model reduces cooking time by up to 501 TP6T and total food and labor costs by up to 22%.

Oisix will offer a "Handmade School Lunch Meal Kit" from 2022, which comes with a menu prepared by a dedicated dietitian and the required amount of pre-cut ingredients. Compared to before the introduction of meal kits, this service has received favorable feedback as it reduces cooking time by 301 TP6T per day and total food and labor costs by 18%, while providing highly satisfactory school lunches with a meal completion rate that increases from 641 TP6T to 70%*. We have now developed a new model of meal kit in response to requests from preschools for a stable and more time-saving service. The new model enables us to deliver vegetables in a pre-cut state, whereas we used to deliver vegetables in their original form, and where the ratio of cut vegetables used to be 80% on average (it varied from 100% to 40% on different days), we are now able to deliver a ratio of 80% or more at any given time. In addition, we have introduced ingredients that reduce cooking time at the preschools, such as pre-heated fried meat and pre-molded and pre-seasoned hamburger steaks. For snacks as well, by delivering pancakes and other time-consuming items in a pre-cooked state, it has become possible to reduce cooking time by up to 501 TP6T and total food and labor costs by up to 22% compared to before the introduction of meal kits*. While maintaining the delicious taste of school lunches, the facility can be stably operated with a small number of cooks as per the cook staffing requirement.

*For a childcare facility with a capacity of 80 children and a 3-person workforce (8 hours per day x 3 persons).
Reductions will vary depending on the number of staffing levels and the size of the facility prior to the use of the service.

New menu ordering system allows for the provision of original menus for each preschool without the burden of time-consuming administrative work.

While the "Handmade School Lunch Meal Kit" has been well received, we have found that there is a certain need to provide original menus for special events and special meals, and to individually arrange the portions of dishes, ingredients, and allergy menus. When providing original menus, conventional food ordering systems require additional administrative work such as nutritional calculations, ordering food items according to the number of meals, and creating forms. The new system automates all of this paperwork, reducing the amount of time spent on this task entirely.
