Sunday, January 19, 2025, "DFree Experience with Restroom Welfare Equipment Exhibition" at COCOLON BASE

- The following is content from the press release -

COCOLON" (operated by NPO EPO, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Erika Saito), which provides learning, play, and information for families and supporters of children with mental and physical disabilities, will hold a hands-on event for the DFree prediction device. This is a hands-on event where visitors can actually pick up and use the product to relieve anxiety about toilet training, diaper leakage, and toileting when out and about for children with disabilities and children with medical care. At the same time, the event provides an opportunity to actually see and touch the "welfare equipment related to toilets," which is not usually exhibited at the event. Although an application is required to participate, the event is free of charge.

Details are as follows

What is "DFree"?

The DFree excretion prediction device is a wearable device that notifies the user in advance when to urinate.

By simply placing the ultrasound sensor on the lower abdomen, the bladder's urine accumulation can be monitored visually and clearly in 10 steps using a smartphone application or a dedicated tablet.

Weighing only 26 g, the main unit is a palm-sized wearable care device.

In addition to monitoring, there is a function that allows the user to set an adjustable "abacus line" on the meter, which is displayed in 10 steps, and is notified with music and sound when the amount of urine reaches the "abacus line".

It is important for children with disabilities who have difficulty sensing the need to urinate on their own, as well as their caregivers and supporters, to know when it is time to go to the bathroom, and it can be a tool to eliminate discomfort and annoyance.

Examples of actual use

Examples of use with severely mentally or physically handicapped children and children with medical care

This is a very useful tool for toilet-trained children, as they know when it is time to lead their child to the toilet.

For children who are not potty-trained or who use diapers, it can be used to prevent diaper leaks and to help them decide when to use the toilet when they are out and about.

Children in toilet training

  • I can tell you how much pee I have to pee.
  • It will let you know when it's time to "pee."
  • It can keep track of "pee."
  • You can keep track of your successes while attending the school.

Children suffering from diaper leakage

  • I can tell you how much pee I have to pee.
  • I can tell you how many times I've urinated since I changed the diaper.
  • We can find out the cause of the leak, whether it was a single leak or multiple leaks.

Toilets on the go

  • It is a good way to determine if it is safe to wait a little longer to change diapers!

Flow of the day of the trial session

This event is open to everyone, including the children with disabilities themselves and their families.

Caregivers, medical and rehabilitation professionals, teachers, and local government officials are also welcome to participate.

If you do not need to experience DFree, you can visit only the restroom welfare equipment exhibit.
