(1) Nearly 80% of parents are worried about their children's diet. The top concerns are "uneven eating," "likes and dislikes," and "eating the same food all the time.
According to a survey conducted by "Kufu Kids Gohan" in October 2024 among men and women whose first child was between 2 and 7 years old, 76.41% of respondents were concerned about their child's diet, indicating that nearly 80% of mothers and fathers have some concerns about their child's diet.
The most common "problems" that were selected as "very difficult and want to solve immediately" or "difficult and want to solve if possible" were "uneven eating" (82.11 TP6T), "many likes and dislikes" (81.61 TP6T), and "eating the same food all the time/not eating at all" (80.41 TP6T). Eating only the same food" (80.4%) were closely followed by "Eating too much or not eating enough" (80.4%). The results show that many mothers and fathers are troubled by inconsistent eating, with some days eating a lot and other days not eating at all, and picky eaters, who eat only certain foods and have little variation in the foods they can eat. They tend to be somewhat more tolerant of likes and dislikes, with a larger percentage saying they "would like to solve this problem if possible" than other concerns. Conversely, "attitude during meals," such as playful eating, standing and walking during meals, and poor posture, were cited by many as problems they "want to solve right away.
(2) Over 30% find mealtime with their children "depressing" and about half find it "burdensome"... The average score for happiness is 63.
Regarding mealtime with their children, 31.91 TP6T respondents felt "depressed" and 49.41 TP6T respondents felt "burdened". This percentage increases by about 4 points to 35.91 TP6T for "depressed" and 53.81 TP6T for "feel burdened" when the respondents who prepare meals for their children for "every meal" and "almost every meal" are limited to those who do so.
When asked how happy they feel about mealtime with their children, the average score was 63.4 out of 100.
