(headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Akie Inada, President; hereinafter "mog"), a provider of career support services for ambitious working mothers, conducted a survey on the use of housework and childcare services by working mothers in 2025.

Research Background
As Japan's birthrate declines and the working population ages, women's participation in society is becoming more important than ever. At the same time, working mothers have been forced to take career breaks in order to balance work and family life, or have been unintentionally thrown off the career track, known as the "Mommy Track.
Aiming for a society where women can achieve self-fulfillment through work, MOG provides career support services for aspiring working mothers, and has fulfilled the working ideals of many working mothers through job change support, reskilling support, and other services. Through this survey, we aim to enable more working mothers to work in their own way.
Survey Summary
When asked about the use of free and paid services for housework and childcare, the most common use was support from grandparents and other family members, with 73% of all respondents having used such services.
The survey revealed that the use of paid outsourcing services for babysitting and housework services is not progressing, with only about 20% of respondents having used both services, and only about 10% using them regularly once a month or more.
Of those respondents who do not use outside services or other services (paid or free), the number one reason for not using them was "high cost/financial burden.
On the other hand, 54% of those who have used babysitters and 48% of those who have used housekeepers indicated that these services were particularly helpful among the multiple services they have used, indicating that the use of these services improves the quality of life.

Financial burden" is the No. 1 reason for not relying on outside services (paid or free), etc.
Of the 184 respondents who gave reasons for not relying on outside services, etc., 56.5% said "high cost/financial burden," followed by about 48.9% who said "troublesome to use and apply for.
On the other hand, only 5.4% of respondents felt that they were concerned about their surroundings and should do it themselves, suggesting that economic and convenience factors rather than psychological barriers were the main reasons for not utilizing outside services.

More than 50% of respondents who have used babysitters or housekeepers as a "particularly helpful" service
Among those who have used babysitters and housekeepers, more than 50% of those who have used these services answered that the services were "particularly helpful" to them. Although only about 20% of working mothers have used babysitters and housekeepers, more than half of those who have used these services are satisfied with them.
