Kataguruma Corporation (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Hironobu Otake, President), which provides management support for childcare, education, and rehabilitation businesses, will deliver three free online seminars in July 2025 on the themes of "organization building," "personnel evaluation," and "compensation improvement.
The seminar will provide hints for organizational management required in the coming era for managers and administrators of nursery schools, kindergartens, and preschools who are facing such problems as "Although we take into consideration the ease of working, expected personnel are quitting" and "Even if we conduct training, the workplace will not change.

Background: Why can't we get away from "leaving it to the field"?

The environment surrounding the childcare industry is changing rapidly, with a declining birthrate, a shortage of human resources, and diversifying needs of parents. If organizational management is an extension of the past, it will only become more difficult to respond to these changes.

In many preschools, we see that "staff members are waiting for instructions" or "if something goes wrong, they turn to the director for help." This may be due not only to individual qualities, but also to the design of the organization itself. In order to nurture "autonomous human resources" who think and act on their own initiative, it is essential to have a "system" that encourages growth through dialogue while sharing the philosophy and vision as decision criteria and promoting delegation of authority.

If the management is conducted in a geriatric manner, with the director and a few other executives taking responsibility for everything, there is a limit to the growth of the organization. The foundation for the future of childcare management is to shift to a "network-type organization" where leaders are created for each issue, and to build a system that enables the entire organization to nurture its employees.

We have planned to deliver online seminars that explain these issues from three different perspectives as a place to learn specific techniques for solving them. All seminars are free of charge and you can learn the main points in one hour. We look forward to your participation.

Testimonials from past participants (excerpts)

  • We are currently in the process of implementing a personnel evaluation system and would like to proceed with caution to avoid confrontational personnel evaluations, which we are finding difficult. I always appreciate your careful guidance and answers. Thank you ‍
  • I was able to hear many very valuable talks and learned a great deal. I realized once again the importance of the evaluation system as a corporation and fair and impartial evaluations in order to create an environment in which each of us can work with satisfaction in a comfortable working environment.
  • Thank you very much for the seminar. Although there is an evaluation sheet, there are many qualitative parts, and I had some problems with the evaluation of childcare workers, so I learned a lot. Thank you very much.
  • I have been wondering what happens to the distribution of additional compensation when the number of preschoolers decreases from the perspective of labor law, and the content was very informative. We are very grateful to hear from you on a practical level as you operate a daycare center.
  • There are many things I do not understand in my first year as park director, but some of the mysteries of the areas I did not understand have been resolved. I will continue to study the material on a daily basis!
  • I learned a lot, not only from the explanation of the system, but also from the practical aspects of the system, which included many key points.
