- Since the use of AI has not yet become a reality in the field of childcare, there is a need to promote the use of AI in the national, prefectural, and city governments.
- We are in an environment where the front-line staff wants to utilize the tools, but the older presidents are not looking at utilizing them, so I would be very happy if there was an opportunity to reach out to the presidents from the outside.
- I simply need more money and something like a workshop to learn the prompts.
summary
In this issue, we conducted a survey of 108 childcare workers on their attitudes toward ChatGPT and the quality of childcare.
First, about 40% of childcare workers have used ChatGPT and AI tools in their childcare work, and 62.0% expect that the use of ChatGPT will "improve the quality of childcare and support for parents and families". In addition, "creating childcare plans and proposing ideas" (46.3%) and "providing information to parents and creating contact sheets" (40.7%) were cited as situations where AI tools are useful in childcare. On the other hand, regarding challenges in incorporating AI tools such as ChatGPT into childcare, the top responses were "Insecurity in accurately understanding situations unique to childcare settings" and "Doubts about the accuracy and reliability of AI responses" (both 26.8%). Furthermore, "Training/seminars on the use of AI tools in childcare" was the most common support needed for the use of AI tools in childcare settings, at 35.21 TP6T, followed by "Development of childcare-specific AI tools" at 28.71 TP6T.
While many childcare professionals in this survey expressed a positive attitude toward the use of AI tools, the survey also revealed challenges associated with their introduction. There is a need to improve the environment for effective use of AI while maintaining and improving the quality of childcare services, including the development of specialized AI tools that meet the unique needs of the childcare field and the establishment of appropriate training systems. Exploring appropriate ways to use technology will be key to reducing the workload of childcare workers and providing higher quality childcare services.
