Support provided by "Online My Midwife" - from pregnancy to 3 months postpartum (approx.)

(1) Reduced risk of pregnancy complications

Wearable devices are worn to record and monitor pregnant women's health data. Physical activity and heartbeat disturbances are checked by a personal midwife to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications.

(2) Attending to concerns and worries during pregnancy

Weekly meetings with a personal midwife allow you to feel free to discuss any concerns, problems, or questions you could not ask at the maternity checkup, and send advice that is tailored to the needs of pregnant women.

(3) Providing correct information by experts tailored to the individual's condition

Based on your physical condition and lifestyle, your personal midwife will give you the best advice based on medical evidence and correct information from an expert.

(4) Eases the concerns of partners who have difficulty obtaining information and support on childcare

The meeting with the personal midwife is open to partners as well as expectant mothers. The midwife will explain childcare skills, such as how to suckle the baby, feed the milk, and change diapers, as well as the physical and psychological condition of the mother, and provide specific support methods.

Reduce the risk of pregnancy complications by balancing proper activity and rest

With the declining birthrate and the promotion of women's activities, the environment surrounding pregnancy and childbirth has changed dramatically, with an increase in high-risk pregnancies due to older age and an increase in postpartum depression in partners, and many couples are facing difficulties in conceiving and raising children. In response, Shinagawa Ward adopted "Online My Midwife" as a project to support children and child rearing in society as a whole in its fiscal 2025 budget, and will begin accepting applications and providing the service from April 2025.

Promotes co-parenting with partner from prenatal period. Supports the suppression of postpartum depression.

Online My Midwife" monitors the health status of pregnant women by collecting vital data such as heart rate and activity level using a wearable device. Based on the collected data, the personal midwife provides an individually optimized health management plan to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. Consultations via chat support are available 24 hours a day to address physical changes and concerns faced during pregnancy.

We encourage partners as well as expectant mothers to participate in online meetings with midwives. By sharing feelings and understanding the roles of both the expectant mother and partner prior to the birth, we aim for a smooth transition to joint childcare after birth. Furthermore, by alleviating the concerns of partners who have difficulty in obtaining information and support regarding childcare, the program aims to reduce postpartum depression in partners, who are considered to be equal* to pregnant women. According to a survey by the National Center for Child Health and Development.
