- The following is content from the press release -
Azukarukochan Postpartum Care is a reservation service*1 that connects women in the pregnancy to postpartum period with postpartum care facilities. You can easily search for postpartum care facilities and apply for a reservation anytime on line or on the web. There is no need to download it like an application; it can be used from a browser.

Not only is the system easy to use for users of postpartum care, it also frees the staff of postpartum care facilities that operate the services from cumbersome paperwork, allowing them to concentrate on their work. In addition, when the system is introduced on a municipal basis, information on outsourced postpartum care facilities in the region can be managed centrally.

System also benefits postpartum care facilities
Postpartum care facilities that have introduced Azukaruko-chan Postpartum Care will be able to make reservations online. Until now, pre-registration, availability checks, and reservation applications had to be made in writing or by phone, but online reservations can be made without worrying about time, reducing the psychological workload.
We also believe that in order for this service to be beneficial to users of postpartum care, it is essential that it be practical for facility staff. Through the verification experiment described below, we have conducted concrete verification and functional development with the aim of enabling staff to concentrate on providing essential care to users by centralizing and digitizing information management and administrative work performed when accepting reservations.

Background of Development
We are a reservation service for sick children.Azukaruko-chan sick child careSince the launch of "Azukaruko-chan Postpartum Care" in 2020, we have been working to expand our services and improve their functions in order to create a society that welcomes diverse child-rearing styles. We have also launched the Azukaruko-Chan Postpartum Care project because we believe that our structure and knowledge can be useful in other businesses as well.
In developing the service, we heard many stories from users and staff at postpartum care facilities around the country.
What I understood there was the reality that women are exhausted both mentally and physically by the effects of the major hormonal changes after childbirth and by child-rearing, which does not allow for 24-hour rest, and that they spend their days with a lot of anxiety. I also learned that postpartum care plays an extremely important role as a place where these women can rest and relax.
However, the hurdles to using postpartum care are still high in Japan, and it is not readily available to everyone. One person who actually used postpartum care said, "I had to go to the municipal office for application procedures while carrying my postpartum body, and call to make an appointment when the facility was open, which was time-consuming and psychologically burdensome before I could start using the service.
Because of the urgency of the situation for women in the postpartum period, and the fact that the situation may not be readily apparent to others, it is necessary to consider how to provide quick access with as little burden as possible.
We thought we could make use of the knowledge we had accumulated through the Azukaruko-Chan sick child care program. In other words, we are digitizing the process of actually using postnatal care facilities.
In developing this service, we conducted a crowdfunding campaign in 2023 and received support exceeding our goal of 10 million yen. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters. Thank you very much.
In addition, from 2023, we will begin a demonstration experiment. We invited postpartum care facilities to use the functions, observed their reactions and received feedback, and worked to add and improve the service's functions.

Campaigns for facilities and municipalities are underway.
On the occasion of this official release, we will offer a campaign for facilities and municipalities to save on installation costs.

CEO Sonoda's comments
Although physical and mental care and childcare support are very important for postpartum women, there are still high hurdles to overcome in order to use these services. We hope that this service will help those who wish to obtain the necessary support to connect more smoothly with facilities and specialists, and bring us one step closer to a society where women can give birth and raise their children with peace of mind.
We hope that facilities and local governments will take advantage of this campaign to create an environment that facilitates access to postpartum care for their users upon its official release. In addition, from April of this year, postpartum care services will be positioned as a "regional child-rearing support project," and the national, prefectural, and municipal governments will systematically develop a system to provide such services and divide roles among them. Through cooperation with facilities and the government, we would like to contribute to the enhancement of postpartum care and the creation of an environment that facilitates its use.
We will continue to work with facilities, local governments, and experts to not only provide a system, but also to make the postpartum care business itself take root in society. We will continue our efforts to create a system that is easy for users to access and for providers to operate, as a service that supports "giving birth," "raising children," and "nurturing. We hope that many people will take advantage of Azukaruko-chan Postpartum Care by taking a look at our nationwide network of postpartum care facilities.
Overview and Current Status of Postpartum Care
Postpartum care is a program operated by local governments and the private sector, in which midwives and others provide physical and mental care and childcare support to women and their children within one year after childbirth, either by commuting to and staying at facilities or visiting them at home. Postpartum women's circumstances and the degree of burden they feel vary. Providing care for each and every one of them will help them recover physically and mentally.
As described above, postpartum care is an essential program for society. However, while many local governments and private organizations provide this service, many people hesitate to use it because "some people are willing to help," "it is wrong to rely on others," or "it is not a big deal compared to others. In addition, some local governments have established requirements for the use of postpartum care, such as "having physical or mental illness or childcare anxiety. Under these circumstances, in FY2023, the Administration for Children and Families plans to abolish the requirements for the use of postpartum care established by some local governments, etc., and create an environment that is easy to use for all who wish to use it, regardless of their postpartum home environment.
