Casio Computer Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it conducted a survey of 400 women in their 40s or older with children aged 18 or older to determine their child-rearing losses during the season when their children are on their own and beginning their new lives.
About 70% of women in their 40s or older who have children feel "child-rearing loss.
Among the various losses felt at the time of work or life changes, about 70% (66.3%) felt "child-rearing loss," far exceeding "pet loss" (41%) and "partner loss" (34%).
Parenting loss" leads to a sense of "emptiness.
Emptiness" was the most common emotion that could occur as a result of "child-rearing loss. Furthermore, among those in their 40s to 70s, women in their 50s felt "emptiness" the most. After "emptiness," "worry" and "anxiety" were also found to be the most common feelings.
About 90% of people are looking for new "healing" to fill the gaps in their hearts.
More than 90% of the respondents answered that they would like to have a new "healing" or "talking partner" to relieve "child-rearing loss," and the most common reason given was "I want a loving presence. A "loving presence" can be expected to bring stability and a sense of fulfillment, and relieve feelings of emptiness.
No. 1 reason for not owning a pet: "It's too much work and money to raise one."
As the term "animal therapy" suggests, many people associate pets with healing, but some are unable to keep pets for various reasons. The reasons given were "It takes a lot of effort to raise a pet" (52.91 TP6T), "I am afraid of pet loss" (30.61 TP6T), and "I am too old to have a pet" (28.21 TP6T). In this respect, AI pet robots can be recommended to those who feel hurdles in owning a pet.
Survey Summary
It was revealed that more than half of women who have children feel "parenting loss. This may be one of the psychological effects that arise as their role as parents changes. As a solution to this problem, there is a need for an existence to fill the psychological void, but it is also true that there are various hurdles to owning a pet. This is where AI pet robots come into focus. It is thought that AI pets will be one of the options in the future, as they can be welcomed without worrying about the hassle of raising pets or the restrictions of age, and can provide comfort in the midst of a busy daily life.

It was also revealed that the timing of "leaving parents" was the most common time to feel "child-rearing loss.




It was revealed that "emptiness" was the most common feeling among those who felt "child-rearing loss. This was followed by "worry" and "anxiety. Women in their 50s were particularly likely to feel a sense of "emptiness.


While more than 80% of those in their 40s and 50s are concerned (including those who actually feel it) that they will feel a sense of loneliness and loss after their children grow up and become independent, about 40% of those in their 60s and 70s, who are expected to have many children who have actually experienced independence, do not feel a sense of loneliness and loss. 51.5% of the respondents said that pets were not an option as a presence to alleviate "loss. The main reasons for this were revealed to be "the time and expense involved in raising a pet" (53%) and "fear of pet loss" (31%), which are major issues.
