We are pleased to announce that on Sunday, September 29, at TKP Garden City Shibuya (2-22-3 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), we will hold the "Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Postpartum Symposium on Mental Health Support for Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Postpartum Period" will be held.

As background to the project, the representative, Tsukagoshi himself, returned from maternity leave and completely collapsed after giving birth in 2019, spending his days thinking "I want to disappear," and there he finally saw a psychiatrist and found out he had postpartum depression more than a year after the birth. I could imagine that postpartum depression rose from 10% to 28% with the Corona Disaster due to isolation, but I asked myself, "Why didn't I know I had postpartum depression while on maternity leave? Couldn't they have connected me to care and support?" The question arose.

We conducted multiple surveys of 100 people to gather the opinions of both women with postpartum depression and the men who support them, and found that only 4 people actually went to the government for advice, and that they had "talked to their families and that was the end of it" and "did not know where to go for advice. The comprehensive support has been promoted for many years. Comprehensive support has been underway for years, and the postpartum care program is now moving forward as a policy and the budget is increasing. But what is still lacking? We have planned this meeting to think about this issue.

Only 4 out of 100 consulted the government.
Some say postpartum care programs are also difficult to use.

(Other specific graphs and free answer comments can be found on the event page above.)

We understand that you are busy, but we would be grateful if you could cover this issue and use the media coverage as an opportunity for more people to become aware of the issues surrounding perinatal women and for society to change.
