(Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka City)https://www.akachan.jp ("Nissan") and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. ("Nissan") jointly unveiled a concept model of the Il-Yo, a robot that assists in babysitting while driving, in January 2024, which has been well received by many customers through hands-on events and social networking services.
In response to requests from customers who have experienced the system, Nissan has now added a new function to "Iruyo" called "Mada Iruyo" to prevent accidents involving children left in the car. This new function will be unveiled at the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery on Sunday, September 15.
Considering the importance of preventing accidents involving children left unattended in cars, Akachan Honpo has released the contents of the new "Madairuyo" feature added by Nissan to prevent accidents involving children left unattended in cars on the "Life with Car and Baby" special site on the official Akachan Honpo website.

Preventing Accidents Involving Children Left Behind in Cars" Nissan Motor Co.
The Il-Yo child-minding support robot "Il-Yo" was developed with the aim of contributing to the safety and security of driving with only the driver and the child. Since the announcement of the concept model, we have received many valuable comments and ideas. In particular, we have received many requests for a function to prevent accidents involving children being left unattended in the car, and Nissan has been studying new functions for ILE-YO.
Accidents involving children left in the car are a serious problem that can happen to anyone due to human error, and "one in five parents has left their child in the car within a year." 1" (*1). Nissan Motors, which is committed to "Zero Fatalities "*2, has launched the "Prevention of Leaving Children Behind Project "*3 with the aim of preventing accidents involving children left behind in cars and achieving the goal of zero accidents in cars. Under the slogan "Madairuyo," which encourages people to look back at the back seat when exiting the car, Nissan has been disseminating accident prevention measures such as "bag on back" on its official website and through social networking services.
And now, a new function "Mada Iruyo" has been added to "Iruyo" to prevent accidents involving children left in the car.
The new "Mada Iruyo" function wirelessly connects the Iruyo in the car to the parent's smartphone and estimates the distance based on the strength of the connection, recognizing when the parent has moved away from the Iruyo. Additionally, it uses the iluyo's facial expression recognition camera to verify whether or not the child has been left in the car.
If the system determines that the distance between the ILLOYO and the parent/guardian is greater than the threshold*4 and that the child has been left in the vehicle, it sends a warning notification to the parent/guardian's smartphone to notify them that the child has been left in the vehicle.

In August, Akachan Honpo conducted a survey on the state of car trips through its own research institute, the Babies' Life Institute.
The survey showed that the frequency of taking children in the car for outings is not a rare occurrence, with 28.5% of respondents taking their children in the car "1-2 days a week" and 20.4% taking their children in the car "3-5 days a week. When asked, "Have you ever worried or worried that you might accidentally leave your child in the car?
