Pigeon Corporation (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Norimasa Kitazawa) has adopted for the first time in the Japanese baby market (*1) a "reciprocating type" nail file, in which the file part automatically moves in a straight line to scrape nails. The product will be sold at baby goods specialty stores nationwide and at the Company's official online store from August 5, 2024 (Monday).
Babies' nails are small, soft, and grow at a very fast pace due to their active metabolism. Babies, especially younger ones, may scratch and damage their own faces if they leave their nails growing long enough, so it is important to take care of them frequently at home.
While proper nail care is important, in our survey on baby nail clippers (*2), about 80% of mothers responded that they were afraid to cut their baby's nails. The survey also revealed that some mothers had problems such as "I couldn't see the baby's small nails well and almost hurt my fingers" and "I cut my nails too deeply by trying to keep them in a smooth shape.
The new "Baby Electric Nail File" is the first product in the Japanese baby market to adopt the "reciprocating type" of nail filing, in which the nail file moves in a straight line. The file has a compact head that makes it easy to see the baby's tiny nail tips, allowing the user to check the state of sharpening while sharpening. There are two modes to choose from: "soft mode" and "normal mode," both with different speeds, and two types of files to choose from.
