Sakura Craypas Announces Results of Joint Research with Tamagawa University on "Verification of 'Picture Book Reading' between Generative AI and Humans".

- The following is content from the press release -

(Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; President: Hikoshiro Nishimura; hereafter "Sakura Craypas") announced today that it will hold the "Japan Society for Educational Technology 2024 Spring National Conference" at Kumamoto University on March 2-3, 2024, to promote the "ICT Education Research Center" at Tamagawa University, Faculty of Education, at the 2024 Spring National Conference of the Japan Society for Educational Technology held on March 2-3, 2024.
A joint research result with Associate Professor Tetsushi Yamada and his colleagues, "Verification Report on 'Picture Book Reading' between Generative AI and Humans," was presented.

Sakura Crepus is currently conducting basic research in collaboration with universities and other organizations to visualize the state of children's independent development. In this research, we are utilizing behavioral sensing and AI technology to visualize children's learning through play (state of independent development). As one of the results of this research, this presentation suggests the possibility of estimating a specific state of strong interest or boredom in the case of both human and digital materials use based on temporal changes in children's gaze when participating in picture book storytelling.

In addition, the differences in the amplitude of eye gaze variation and the content of drawings after reading to the children indicated that reading to the children by a person is likely to influence their understanding and memory of the content. Although these are limited case study results, we believe that the use of behavioral sensing and AI technologies will lead to visualization of the state of children's upbringing, which is difficult to monitor by operating or wearing digital devices. In the future, it is expected that this could lead to support for improving the quality of the educational environment through the proposal and development of new ways to use educational materials.

Sakura CREPAS will continue to contribute to society by scientifically exploring children's development and developing business activities that "support children's development from various perspectives" through research results.
