Play Life Studio Releases "Playful Habits," a Gamification-Based Family Bonding Habit-Building App

Gamification technology x group system solves the problems of "not lasting," "not fun," and "solitary" habit formation.

The system is equipped with many features to help groups of users enjoy their habit creation efforts, such as 3D avatars and adventure-inspired areas that change and develop through habit creation, data linkage with family and friends through group IDs, and the ability to check what group members have registered as habit creation goals and their progress.
At the same time, "Playful Habits forBiz" and "Playful Habits forBiz Customize," plans for corporate users, were also released.

Multiple people close to each other can work on habit formation while having fun.

Playful Habits is a multi-person habit-building application with built-in gamification (*1) technology.
Specifically, we envision that people will form groups of family members, friends, colleagues, and other close associates to enjoy and work on their habits.
Specifically, the following features are designed to help the group enjoy and develop the habit.

  1. Your own avatar to choose from
    When you start the application, you can choose your avatar who will work on the habit with you from now on. Choose an avatar of your choice and let the habit change your avatar!
  2. Avatars and areas change and develop according to customs
    As you continue to work on what you want to make a habit of, your individual avatar and the group's shared areas change and develop! Avatars gain unique styles and accessories, and shared areas open up new items and stages through the efforts of the whole family.
  3. Make it a habit with family, friends, and other close people.
    By sharing group IDs and linking data, you can share what you want to habituate to and its progress on multiple devices. You can work on your habit with those close to you while cheering them on.
    *A single group can have up to 5 users.

In addition, Playful Habit is intended to be used by family, friends, and colleagues, and we believe that the application is a good fit for those who have the following in mind.

Playful Habits born from real family challenges

Playful Habits is born out of CEO Shimizu's own challenges.

As a father of two children, Shimizu felt two challenges in his relationship with his family.

  1. I have become a "nagging parent" because I want my children to learn good habits, and I want them to learn good habits,
  2. Negative conversations with family members are becoming more and more common,

In the midst of our busy lives, we had almost lost our original vision regarding family habit-forming activities.
We wanted to do something about this situation, so we held discussions with COO Kuroda and the team's designers, engineers, and game planners.
Furthermore, after interviewing a total of more than 50 mothers and fathers with similar challenges, the aforementioned "Playful Habits" habit-building application for strengthening family bonds was born.
