(Tetsuya Shinoda, President & CEO, Minato-ku, Tokyo) has released the first major update to "Welldone!", an application designed to support families as one team in establishing the lifestyle and learning habits of preschool and elementary school students.
Background
(Welldone!) was launched in beta in July 2021 as an app for families and parents/children that specializes in building children's habits. Since then, the app has undergone multiple updates based on user feedback and interviews, including UI/UX improvements and additional features. In this major update, we have greatly enhanced gamification, focusing on "a system that children can enjoy and continue to use", which was strongly requested by both parents and children.
Update Summary
The following three major gamification elements have been added and modified.
(i) ▶ Changes in the main character "Tuckibee" ◀ ▶ Changes in the main character "Tuckibee
Previously, the firepower was set to change in three stages under certain rules, but with this update, the firepower is kept at maximum by the child tapping the Tuckibee himself/herself. Since the flame will go out and turn to smoke if not tapped for a certain period of time, we expect the application to be launched regularly to check for unaccomplished tasks and reduce the number of missing tasks.
(2) ▶ Acquisition of items & clearing the stage ◀ ▶ Acquisition of items & clearing the stage ◀ ▶ Acquisition of items
There are three stages (Grassfield, Riverside, and Mountain Hill) that resemble campgrounds, and each stage offers 8 items. As you complete tasks, you accumulate experience (EXP), and when you reach the required EXP, you get an item; when you collect all 8 items, you clear the stage and can move on to the next stage. The aim of the game is to keep players motivated to complete the stages by working hard on the tasks.
③ ▶ Original characters join us! ◀
You can use the coins you earn along with EXP to collect fellow characters to take along. In the future, it is envisioned that the characters will accompany the habit formation by encouraging and worrying with you.
