BTA2023 AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTS ANNOUNCED!

The time is near when you can buy BabyTech products at Akachan Honpo! A conversation between Kenji Ajishi, President of Akachan Honpo, and Tetsuya Nagata, President of Papa Smile

A great response to the "future of childcare" felt at the BabyTech event

Nagata: In September this year, when we announced that you had become a platinum sponsor of BTAJ2021, we received a very strong response from all quarters. For example, we were told by a major media outlet that BabyTech had finally reached the stage where it could be adopted by the general public.

Ajishi: It is still too early to tell how much the market for BabyTech will expand and how it can help in various aspects of childcare. However, we think there is a lot of potential. I was in the shop for the BabyTech TOUCH and got a great response from many people. Not only from the general consumer, who said "I didn't know this product was on sale! But we have also been able to make contacts with companies who are thinking about using BabyTech in their business to business, and with manufacturers who are developing BabyTech. For us, this has had a huge impact. It gave us a hint and an opportunity to find out how we can bring to our customers the different types of baby tech that are coming up.

Nagata: There is a possibility that BabyTech products and services will emerge from fields that we have never thought of. What kind of products are you looking forward to?

Ajishi: Mothers and fathers have a hard time raising their children every day. On the other hand, babies are really cute and there are lots of fun times. What I am strongly advocating is: "If we get to know babies' lives better, we will be able to offer suggestions and support for problems and lifestyles that our customers are not aware of. That's what we want to do. This is where BabyTech can help. If we can use sensors, images and voice to help with things that previously required the use of human hands and eyes, we can make life a little easier and more enjoyable for parents. That's what we expect from BabyTech products and services.

For example, the other day I was talking to our 'baby bedding stockist' about the following. Why do we need baby bedding in the first place? It's for babies to get a good night's sleep, so shouldn't we be learning more about babies' sleep than just how to sell bedding? What do mums and dads worry about when it comes to their baby's sleep? Of course, there is a need for comfortable and warm bedding, but we would like you to go deeper and think about what you can offer to help with problems such as difficulty in getting babies to sleep or waking them up in the middle of the night. There may be manufacturers who are developing products to support babies' sleep issues, so we should investigate this further. I said, "In this way we can make a greater contribution to babies' sleep. Perhaps with the advent of baby tech, we will see products and services that support and enhance sleep in ways that were previously unthinkable.
